I have been on a mad search for a DIY body wash that isn’t super runny for quite some time and I have finally found one! Hooray! I wanted to share a new recipe I discovered online that adapted to make my own with the ingredients I had on hand. I am so excited I am going to dive right in!
DIY Helichrysum Sea Salt Body Wash Recipe
(original recipe… http://mountainroseblog.com/
- 1 oz. aloe vera gel
- 3 oz. liquid castile soap
- 3 oz. distilled water
- 3 drops of helichrysum essential oil
- 1 tbsp organic olive oil (or other liquid carrier oil)
- 2 tsp sea salt (I used dead sea salts)
- 10 to 20 drops essential oil (I left the extra oils out but you can add your favorite scent… Lemongrass and Peppermint would be very invigorating in a morning shower or Peace & Calming in the evening)
First in a pyrex measuring glass dissolve the sea salt and helichrysum essential oil into the distilled water.
Add the aloe vera gel, olive oil and essential oils of choice. Mix it up. The oils with separate from the water but this is not a problem at this stage in the recipe.
Lastly pour the castile soap in and whisk.
At this point, I was completely amazed and felt like a scientist, ha! As you stir in the castile soap, the body wash begins to thicken, keep on stirring!
Funnel and pour into a flip top container.
Of course, this isn’t going to be as sudsy as your commercial body washes but I love how great my skin feels, so very hydrating 🙂
I absolutely LOVE helichrysum! I keep a few drops in our “first aid kit” and was one of the first oils I used after the new year. I fell hard, right on my bum. Layering helichrysum over lavender helped tremendously. Oh, how I love oils! I never bruised and it definitely helped the speed of recovery.
