I have been using essential oils since July of 2015. I started this amazing journey with the premium starter kit. It was the perfect way for me to get acquainted with oils and the collection contains a great variety of versatile essential oils. I had wanted to learn more about essential oils years ago and when I gave it more thought and obsessed over which oils I was going to choose for my family I came to the conclusion that Young Living essential oils were the only choice for my family. I am a research junkie and am so glad I took the time to understand what they were and what would be the best choice before diving in and picking up a bunch of random oils at a health food store or online.
I have always struggled with skin issues and have decided to take my journey a bit deeper and work on my body from the inside out. I absolutely love the Essential Oils pocket reference, this book is definitely one you should have on your shelf if you are using Young Living essential oils, it is an awesome resource. On my list, is the desk reference! My most recent book is Rediscovering Nature’s Essentials by Dr. Amanda L. Lukes, DC. It is a great, simple resource and highlights essential oils and supplements that benefit each body system. I quickly read through the book and have accepted the 90 day challenge located at the back of the book.
I have chose the integumentary system because it is the system that contains the skin, eyes, hair and such. My focus is on skin health but am thrilled to improve hair and overall health, as well. I have chose to take Ningxia Red, Multigreens and Life 5 for the 3 supplements. As far as essential oils, I couldn’t limit myself to 3 because I already fell madly in love with so many. I will focus on using a DIY essential oil infused lotion that I made with coconut oil, shea butter, lavender, frankincense and purification. I am adding a drop of ocotea essential oil to my Ningxia Red shot and 2 or 3 drops lemon essential oil to my water. I am a sugar addict and will be cutting way, way back! I am already using my own homemade face wash and plan to phase out of my current beauty products and in their place Young Living products. I use the Young Living Thieves mouthwash and floss and have the Thieves Aromabright toothpaste in my cart! Oh, how I love all things Thieves! And lastly, Endoflex essential oil blend. This one is great and supports overall body balance. As stated in the book, “When looking to support the integumentary system, it is important to look at supporting the endocrine and/or reproductive system as hormones influence the function and development or skin and hair.” I love this blend and apply to in the inside of my ankles twice daily and it smells great. My hormones were definitely out of whack after having my last son, for much longer than expected!
**2/8/2016 One month into the challenge and I am happy to say my rough, dry skin is softer, something I haven’t felt in years. Now this is not a complete improvement but I think I’m on my way!
